Trish’s Team of Class Instructors
Elaine has worked for MAD academy since 2005, teaching very successful classes in the Wokingham area and Trish is delighted that Elaine now shares some of her MAD magic across the Reading area too.
Elaine discovered MAD Academy when looking for a class for her daughter, Caitlin, and they both enjoyed them so much, she became a teacher! She began singing and dancing at a young age, and danced with the Devon Dance company, before attending the Sylvia Young Theatre School.
Elaine spent many happy years working as a Butlins Redcoat and Costume Performer, appearing as both ‘Noddy’ and ‘Big Ears’ in Toyland, before moving to Berkshire.
Lucy Seymour – Lucy has been singing and dancing since the age of 6. She obtained O’level Music, Grade 8 singing and and since moving to Reading has been involved in many local theatre companies having performed principal roles (such as Nancy in Oliver! and Helen in Half a Sixpence)and directed both children and adults. She is also a licenced chaperone for children in theatre.
She graduated from Reading University with a Masters Degree in Medical statistics. She worked as a statistician whilst continuing dancing, singing, directing and performing. She also teaches maths to private students. After having her two children, Jacob and Anna, she went back to her office job. Now that they are starting secondary school she decided it was time for a change and for her to do something that combines her love of working with children, education and music by teaching with MAD.
Lindsay returned to Reading in September this year after almost 20 years away. She met up again with a good friend our very own Lucy Seymour, who introduced her to the MAD Academy. Lindsay loved the concept immediately! She has always loved ‘passing on’ her passion of music and dance. MAD Academy offers that, and so much more. Lindsay couldn’t wait to become part of the team”
“I would just like to say over the last 8 years MAD Academy has been part of our family life. We will miss coming to the weekly sessions. Both Thomas and Oscar have enjoyed themselves thoroughly, learning and having fun all the way. Even after 8 years Thomas still remembers coming to MAD lessons and being your little sidekick at the front. Oscar is like it with Lucy now.
The team and you should be immensely proud of what you all do, bringing such enjoyment and learning opportunities into young children’s life. Doing learning through play is the best way; the songs are fabulous from the old ones that everyone knows to the new ones which are really catchy especially – Ralph at the beach and the water cycle one. I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thankyou to you and your team. Keep up the excellent work you all do.”
“Flo has loved the class. It is well structured, encourages language and numeracy skills and is totally age appropriate. The variety of activities and music/songs has allowed Flo to develop her love of music. Lucy is an excellent teacher and Ralph the teddy bear is a great hit as are the stickers.”
“Sadly, Laura is coming to the end of her time at the MAD Academy. She has really enjoyed the classes since she was 3 years old. We think the classes are just fab – they are energetic (a work out for Mums too!) and their success is due to the sheer enthusiasm that class leader Trish puts into them. You can’t help joining in. We will miss the classes very much.”
