Overview and benefit
Children learn the concepts of some simple sports by using and interacting with sporty props.
- You can use any sporty type props you have for example, golf, tennis, Bats and Balls, Footballs, Soft Frisbees, soft balls, skipping ropes
Up to six weeks
How it works
You can use any of the suggested props to help the children learn about any given sport. For example with soft balls, perhaps you can talk about shot put, and how to throw the ball. With skipping ropes you can use these for the children to try their own ‘long jump’.
What to do in the class
Choose a prop, discuss a little about the sport before you start and demonstrate how to use the prop. Put on a little background music and allow the children to interact with the chosen prop.
Adaptations for older/younger children
What to do in a nursery setting
Make sure the prop is suitable for the space you have.
