Sophie_Hill_Mad_AcademySophie Hill started early with her love of music and dancing. From a young age she attended ballet lessons, and later went on to play the saxophone and piano. She was born in Oxford and went to university in Manchester where she played in a band in local pubs.

After leaving university, she spent 12 years as a Sales Manager for BT whilst her passion for music and dancing took a back seat. The arrival of Sophie’s two daughters changed her outlook on life, and gave her the opportunity to re-evaluate her career and revisit some of her earlier passions.

Sophie loves putting on mini discos at home, and singing and dancing with her children. She understands the developmental benefits of music and dancing, and now, through MAD Academy, is able to share this with the parents and children of North Oxfordshire. She is really looking forward to meeting you at her classes! Visit Sophie’s class timetable to find a suitable class.

Lucy Kenyon

Lucy-Kenyon-smallSince a young age, Lucy always wanted to sing and perform! Lucy was born into a large musical family of 5, grew up in Tamworth in the Midlands and from the age of 8, began taking part in many different musical activities. She learned to play the violin and was an avid member of school choirs and orchestras both at primary and secondary school, as well as at University.

After studying Archaeology and Ancient History at university, Lucy knew she wanted to use her skills to train to become a primary school teacher and after completing her course, she then began working as a teacher in the Aylesbury area. 7 years later, Lucy had her baby son and life seemed to change again, this time with her wanting to continue with and develop her love of singing.

Lucy attended one of the Bicester MAD Academy classes with her son for a year and soon discovered just how exciting an opportunity it would be to be able to teach others about the wonderful world of music and dance and to share her love of fun! Lucy will be starting her own classes in the North Oxfordshire area in January 2015 and is really looking forward to meeting lots of new parents and children and welcoming them into the musical world of MAD Academy!

Testimonials

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the classes and say that both Lena and I really enjoyed them! Even though Lena is a bit shy and needed some time to feel comfortable, she would always ‘sing’ or repeat all the activities that she learnt during the class. You are brilliant at what you do, and I’m very happy that I had a chance to be part of MAD Academy with you! I will recommend the classes to everybody I know! Thank you again for all the joy and music that you’ve brought to our lives.”

“We absolutely adore both Sophie and her class. Thursday is our favourite day of the week with the boys arriving at 8am excited as it is our MAD day. Her classes are inspirational, she is so enthusiastic, miraculously ALWAYS remembers the children’s names in her class, even the new ones. Her topics are current with the curriculum and help to expand on my work with them at home. She goes out of her way to help me on the days that she can see I have my hands full.”

Lucy, childminder

“I would like to introduce myself as an Ofsted Outstanding Childminder based in Bicester, Oxfordshire (Lucy’s Little Clubhouse). I discovered Mad Academy some 1 and a half years ago and thought it would be a great activity to do with my 3 boys then 1 ½ years old. We have been attending Sophie Hills classes for a year and a half now. In my opinion she is one in a million. I have my hands full with the 3 boys and, needless to say was taking on a challenge doing the class with them. We absolutely adore both Sophie and her class. Thursday is our favourite day of the week with the boys arriving at 8am excited as it is our MAD day. As the boys grow and enter full time school I will be enrolling my new younger ones with Sophie as, in my opinion, she is our hero. These days people do not say often enough when they are really impressed with something and praises are not song when they should be. I feel that Mad Academy is an extremely amazing medium to enthral and capture children’s imagination to learn through play and self-expression. Sophie – you are great and should be recognised as our star!”

“My son loves going to Sophie’s Mad Academy classes. He loves all the dancing and jumping around and the different themes each week. We’ve even got the CD so he can sing along in the car! I highly recommend going – so much fun!”

Happy MAD Mum

“We had Sophie visit us and the children absolutely loved it. Sophie was full of enthusiasm and even the quieter children joined in.”

“Mad Academy entertained the children at my daughter’s birthday party. Much fun had by all, even the quieter children wanted to get involved. The session was tailor made for the very varied age groups attending and included some of Harriet’s favourite music. Will definitely recommend and use Mad Academy again.”

Harriet’s Mummy

“My son has been coming to MAD Academy since Sophie started sessions at Wyevale in April, he’s now 22 months old. He really enjoys the mixture of music, dance and other activities and we look forward to our Monday sessions. Sophie also ran some extra sessions during the summer holidays which helped keep my little monkey amused.”
