Laura WandragLaura has always had a passion for music and dance, having studied drama and physical theatre at school and university, participating in dance lessons from a young age and even performing at Dance Festivals in South Africa. In 2004 Laura emigrated from South Africa, taking her enthusiasm and love for learning into the education sector, where she taught Physical Education and Dance.

The birth of her daughter in 2013 changed her life forever! This personal change called for a professional change and so she was on the lookout – something to bring her closer to home and that could fit around her daughter. This is where MAD Academy jumped in.

Loving the ‘free-spiritedness’ of MAD Academy classes along with the strong educational links with the Early Years Goals, Laura immediately identified with the ethos of MAD academy and when the opportunity arose to purchase an established MAD Academy franchise, Laura jumped at it! She now runs MAD Academy Dorking and looks forward to welcoming old and new families to her classes. Visit Laura’s timetable to find a suitable class.

You did a great job. Laura and The MAD Academy were a great addition to our party. Laura was brilliant at entertaining the kids from a wide age range from 1 to 10. They were kept engaged, active and an hour whizzed by! Thanks Laura

“Thanks so much for such a super, fun session on Tuesday. The children loved every minute of it and the staff were so impressed with the pace and variety of it. They also appreciated the lesson plan and how many of the EYFS learning goals were covered.”

I booked Mad Academy for my daughter’s 4th birthday party. Laura, from Mad Academy, has a great personality – the kids loved her! She had everything you could think of to keep them occupied – singing, dancing, games and pass the parcel. I was really pleased with the way everything turned out. I really liked that all the kids were happy and that my daughter, Alysa really enjoyed it!

It’s a very free spirited, fun and energetic class, the children all say hello to the mascot Ralph the Bear and goodbye at the end. It’s really high energy and my son absolutely loves it. Lots of bubbles, playing with musical instruments, animal bingo, a big parachute the children run under and around, balancing bean bags on their heads and sorting them by colour. It’s very physical, Jack is very active and he’s always zonked at the end.

Mad Academy is very well structured and provides a very good balance between kinaesthetic, thinking and listening skills. After baby sensory it’s the next challenge for my son, Samuel – he loves the problem solving and I love the communication between us both. The last session had a farm theme – Samuel found the farm animals and we had lovely chats about them together. Laura, who runs the group completely captivated Samuel – he didn’t take his eyes off her! She’s very bubbly and enthusiastic. Laura’s sessions are really well planned and thought out. As a teacher myself I’m really impressed!

“Thank you for donating the MAD academy class. Just to let you know you helped us raise £3500 for playground for the school.”

The party was brilliant yesterday, thank you so much for doing a brilliant job, and for going the extra mile and icing those biscuits for me! The entertainment was just right and I know India enjoyed it despite the rocky start! I think it was a lot for her to take in.

A couple of the mums said to me how great you were and we would definitely recommend you and MAD academy. One mum said she thought it was genuinely the best kiddies party she had been to! I think the highlight might of been the parachute with all the balls!

Thank you so much for providing fantastic entertainment for Eli and Ethan’s party on Saturday, they all had such a great time and you had it all under control with so many children. Thank you also for their gifts.

I owned my own dance school for 40 years and retired and moved to Reigate following the birth of my Grandson. I took him to M.A.D when he was 18 months after reading the website. It was an instant hit, combining lots of fun with music and movement. The class has so many different variations to it, it keeps the children interested and no pressure at all when they decide to have a ‘Run Around’.

Laura’s talent includes a unique ability to draw the children’s attention and hold it, not easy with such a young age group. The class is fast paced, wonderfully imaginative, energetic and fun filled. Most of the music changes each week, as does the apparatus. The actions and music, which also includes phonics, has been thoroughly thought out using a termly theme. The amount of thought and detail to the classes during the Olympics season was truly wonderful. Laura always teaches with a huge amount of enthusiasm and engages with the children projecting encouragement and confidence building. The shy children who are reluctant at first are slowly and gently encouraged to take part and before long happily joining in. Not only does my Grandson enjoy the classes but I find it motivating and fun too!

Laura works incredibly hard to deliver classes that I consider to be truly wonderful.
