Overview and benefit
Children sing a song about a different animals. They explore the animal in the song through props or pictures to learn more about them. Traditional songs are very familiar to young children and by using those we can teach them more detail about different types of animals.
- Your chosen song
- Up to six weeks
How it works
This activity is about singing one of the many songs in our repertoire that is about animals. Whichever song is chosen, try to bring the song to life more by introducing it and explaining what it is going to be about. Perhaps draw out of your discover box toy versions of what you are going to sing about (e.g. monkey, hedgehog, duck, tiger etc) and show them whilst singing. At the end you could talk about the props, asking what they like to eat, or where you might find them.
