Amanda Chivers has been dancing since a very early age – being taken to her first ballet class at the age of three and then being introduced to both tap dancing and modern. She has fond memories of performing in various pantomimes with the Marianne Edwards School of Dance at Wokingham Theatre when it was sited at Norreys Avenue.
Over the years Amanda has been involved with local theatre companies, in particular Cal-b Productions producing pantomimes written by her partner and toured around local primary schools. More recently she has produced some professional plays at South Hill Park, Bracknell, Windsor Arts Centre and 21 South Street, Reading written by her actor partner. She is also a licensed chaperone for children in theatre.
Amanda become involved in MAD after seeing an advert for children’s parties on a local group on Facebook. Amanda loves being involved with children having helped at cubs, scouts and local theatre groups. She has always loved music and dancing and is very excited to be able to combine her passions. She believes that music and dance can aid a child’s development and boost their confidence.
Amanda Chivers now teaches children’s music and dance classes around Wokingham. Visit Amanda’s class timetable to find a suitable class.
I have been taking my 2 and a half year to the Saturday morning class at Winnersh for over a term now. He is shy and quiet at times but doesn’t stop talking about his music class all week and really looks forward to it! Amanda is warm, energetic, enthusiastic and very approachable. The classes are fun and relaxed (the tunes sick in your head!) and no competitiveness which I have experienced at other bigger classes. Well worth giving it a try, its a great way to spend time with your child and they’ll learn loads

My daughter absolutely LOVES mad academy? It’s the highlight of her week and I’m constantly being asked if its on today. The activities change each week which keeps it exciting for the little ones. Amanda moves quickly from song/activity to the next so my daughters attention never waivers which is a miracle for a 2 year old! It’s high energy and lots of fun – would definitely recommend it.

My son and I thoroughly enjoy MAD Academy classes; not only do we have lots of fun but it’s made notable developmental advancements i.e. enhancing listening skills and the ability to follow instructions, learning about rhythm, a range of musical sounds and dance as well as other educational skills through games. Amanda is a natural with the children and they love her – she is good fun and has a gentle approach – allowing children to go at their pace in an unhurried and unpressurised environment. I recommend these classes to all.
I am a Nanny in Wokingham and I take the little boy I look after to the Thursday session at 10.30am in Bracknell, and he just LOVES it!!! He is always so excited when I say ‘it’s mad academy today’!!
He really enjoy the class with Amanda, she is so lovely and enthusiastic always makes everything so fun in class, she is very good at reading the children if they have particularly enjoyed something she can adapt the lesson so well. My little one learns something new every week, he listens and copies following Amanda’s instructions so well which is so so lovely to see,
We think Amanda is great and we always look forward to coming!
I really can’t rate Mad Academy high enough, I did previous classes with the elder sister of my little one now which was 6 yrs ago and I love it just as much now as i did then!!
If you’re looking for a fun, energetic, music, and dance class with added learning skills to be learnt then this is the class!!!!
My daughter Ruby has really enjoyed her MAD Academy sessions. Having started them as a young baby, it has been great watching her learn and develop each week. She loves every aspect of the class from exploring new items in the sensory bags to having a jig along to the music. Although her absolute favourite part has to be kisses with Ralph!
