Debbie Mason

Debbie Mason has lived in the Croydon borough all her life and is a popular member of the community. She has worked in various industries since leaving school and has enjoyed roles such as Health Care Assistant and Cabin Crew.

Since having her two children, Debbie has rediscovered the fun activities that she used to enjoy as a child with her brother and sister, such as dancing to the radio, putting on shows and singing. A member of the local dance school until the age of 15, Debbie enjoyed ballet and tap classes, a hobby that she believes has been a key factor in her ambition to work with children, helping them to develop confidence, co-ordination and social skills.

Debbie is a strong believer that children should have fun whilst learning and is especially proud of MAD’s ethos of allowing children to learn in a fun, free spirited environment. Debbie runs classes in New Addington, Caterham, Purley and Selsdon and looks forward to welcoming you and your little ones to her classes. Visit Debbie’s timetable to find a suitable class.

"We have invited Debbie to entertain the children at our home for our son’s 4th Birthday party. I gave Debbie an idea what Luka was into - dinosaurs, Kung-Fu Panda and which songs he likes best, so we agreed on the party format in advance. Entertaining boys 4 years of age is not an easy job to do and Debbie was fantastic. My husband and I loved it and most important our son Luka loved it too. He enjoyed himself so much. You should have seen him rushing back from the toilet no to miss something! All his friends enjoyed it too and they had great fun! All parents commented what a great idea it was to entertain the children that way! Parents were totally impressed with Debbie’s energy, style and the way she involved all of the children. The parachute was a fantastic idea. After 45min they all were tired and very hungry. They also were so happy - they didn't want to leave! Debbie made Luka's party great fun. We can’t thank her enough. She was fab!"

"Woodlands Children's Centre commissioned Debbie Mason of Music and Dance Academy (MAD) to run several terms of sessions at the Centre. The sessions were very well run; Debbie always turned up well before the start so was set up and ready. She provided some excellent resources to support the sessions. Whilst the focus of the sessions was to support children and parents/carers to engage in physical and musical activities together, Debbie ensured that the other areas of learning from the Early Years Foundation Stage were threaded through the activities. For example the children played physical games using numbers, shapes and colours. Turn taking and sharing were encouraged. At the end of each course (6 weeks) we evaluated the sessions with the families who attended. Feedback was very positive. Parents enjoyed the sessions and reported that it gave them ideas to do at home with their child. Debbie is a great facilitator, she builds up a great relationship with the children and parents and has a lovely manner. She has a good grasp of the work of Children's Centres and her service fitted very well. We were very disappointed to have to stop the sessions when our funding was cut."

"We booked Debbie for our daughters 4th birthday party having seen her in action at another party where we were so impressed with the style and format of her entertainment. I always worry that things are never quite as good the second time round, however we saw her again at another party once we had booked her and were reassured that she was consistent. On the day of our party, having spoken to me a couple of times to agree the party format, Debbie arrived with plenty of time to spare to set up and my daughter instantly took a shine to her such is Debbie's manner. The party was seamless from start to finish. I had booked Debbie for 2 hours, and she kept 20 4 year olds entertained and involved for the whole time. I saw children who usually hang back really getting stuck in and that was what was most impressive - her ability to engage, involve and have fun with all the children. All the children had a fantastic time and many mums commented on how great she was. I can not recommend Debbie highly enough. She was fab."

"My 3 year old daughter has been attending MAD academy dance sessions with Debbie since September of last year and thinks they are fantastic! (She goes to the Thursday session in Sanderstead). Being a local school teacher, I wanted something that focused on different aspects of dance. The 45 minutes session is a mixture of movement, dance, listening skills and following of instructions, (when playing games etc). Debbie is brilliant with the children and brings out the best in them. I can totally recommend it for your little ones, whether they are boys or girls. I wanted a dance class that wasn't ballet as I don't think that my little girl is quite a ballerina! But this is right up her street with funky songs and TV tunes she knows! And I don't mind listening to some up to date tunes that I like either! So give it a go and you and your little one won't be disappointed!"

"Mad Academy classes offer a great opportunity for everyone to burn off energy, make lots of noise, play games with other children, and best of all have fun! I am really pleased to have found a session that appeals to both my children and that they can attend together. Debbie is always so enthusiastic and welcoming she makes it quite clear that there is no need to feel awkward especially if your little one decides not to join in with every activity. Thank you!"

"We booked Debbie from MAD Academy to do some games at my daughter's 4th birthday party and she was brilliant! I knew it would be great because my daughter was going to Debbie's MAD classes and enjoyed them. She had lots of activities organised for the 45 minutes and it was a seamless transition between each one, with great music and loads of energy. At the end she calmed them all down before they had their food by playing more relaxing music and blowing some amazing mini bubbles around the room. She is very encouraging to all the children and they enjoyed the praise. We discussed beforehand what activities and music my daughter enjoyed at the MAD classes and she took all that into account to work out a great party for my daughter. Debbie put loads of effort and care into planning the party. All the children loved it and most of the parents joined in too! Some of the parents asked me for Debbie's details afterwards as they have been to other parties and said the entertainers' activities were disjointed and said Debbie was by far the best! I can't recommend Debbie highly enough."
