Story Time!

Ralph Learns To Dance

Ralph loved music, he liked the beat
And when he heard it, he’d tap his feet.
But he wouldn’t dance, he didn’t know how.
He’d just shake his head and scratch his brow
And stand there till the song was sung.
But he longed to dance, it looked such fun!

So, one day, he decided to learn
And went and asked each of his friends in turn,
‘How do you dance, just what do you do?
I want to be able to dance like you!’

He went to the parrot and asked for advice,
‘To dance like you would be ever so nice.’
‘Well,’ squawked the parrot, ‘I just ruffle my feathers.
Then I flap my wings, then bring them together.
But how you move doesn't matter, you've just got to join in
Whenever you hear the music begin!

He went to the elephant and asked for advice,
‘To dance like you would be ever so nice.’
‘Well,’ boomed the elephant, ‘I rock side to side.
I make my steps small then very wide.

He went to the snake and asked for advice,
‘To dance like you would be ever so nice.’
‘Well,’ hissed the snake, ‘I like to twist and curl.
And right at the end I do a big twirl.

He went to the lion and asked for advice,
‘To dance like you would be ever so nice.’
‘Well,’ growled the lion, ‘music makes me shake my mane.
I roar and I claw and I shake it again.

He went to the monkey and asked for advice,
‘To dance like you would be ever so nice.’
‘Well,’ laughed the monkey, ‘I swing to and fro.
I reach up high then I reach down low.

He went to the rabbit and asked for advice,
‘To dance like you would be ever so nice.’
‘Well’, said the rabbit, ‘I jump up and down.
I leap up high and I hop all around.

Ralph did all the moves that he had been shown
Then he did a dance that was all his own.
He was no longer worried, he knew what to do
He jumped and he twirled and he wiggled too
For he had learnt that you've just got to join in
