Party Games for Older Children Flour Tower Pour flour into a large round bowl and pack it down firmly. Turn it upside down onto a large tray and carefully remove the bowl, leaving a mound. Place a penny or other small object on top of the mound. Children take a spoon and take it in turns to cut away at the mound. The objective is to cut as much away as possible of the flour without making the penny drop. Sock Sprint Place a huge pile of socks on the middle of the room. Children sit in a circle around the socks. Two children play at a time. They have a minute to see how many socks they can put on one foot. The child who puts on the most socks wins! Egyptian Mummy Wrap Children are put into pairs and given a roll of toilet paper. They then race against each other or a timer, to wrap their partners in the paper. The winner is the child who can completely cover their partner first. Take care not to tear your paper, or you’ll never do it! Hot Potato Children sit or stand in a circle. They pass an object around the circle while music is played. When the music is stopped (by an adult who is not watching the children), whoever has the object is out. This is repeated until only one child is left. If you are having a themed party, you could make the object tie in. Guess how many? This is a great activity to do at the beginning of a party as your guests arrive. Fill a container with lots of small objects, such as sweets, buttons or marbles – remember to count them first! Ask children how many there are and record their answers. At the end of the party announce the winner who guessed nearest to the actual amount. Find The Banana Children stand in a circle, shoulder to shoulder, with their hands behind their backs. One child goes into the centre and closes their eyes. An adult gives a child in the circle an object, such as a banana. The children begin to pass the object round the circle, behind their backs. The child in the middle then opens their eyes and watches to see if they can spot where the object is. They then shout ‘stop’ and point to the person they think has the object. If they are right, they swap places with the child with the object. If not, they have another go. What’s The Time Mr Wolf Children line up along one wall of the room. One child is ‘Wolf’ and stands at the opposite side of the room with their backs to the others. The line of children shout together ‘What’s The Time Mr. Wolf?’ The wolf then replies ‘2 o’clock’ or ‘5 o’clock’ – any number from 1 – 12. The line of children then step forward the number of steps called. Their objective is to try to get to Wolf and tap him on the shoulder. However at any point, Wolf can reply ‘dinner time’, at which point all the children have to run back to their wall and the wolf tries to catch them. Anyone caught changes places with the wolf. Three Blind Mice Children stand in a circle and one child is the ‘cat’ in the middle. The cat closes their eyes and says ‘Three blind mice, see how they run’, as many times as they like. When they are ready they say ‘Three blind mice, see how they run now!’ At this point the children run and the cat tries to catch one of them. Whoever they catch then becomes the cat. Balloon Bust Relay  Divide children into 2 teams and line them up at one end of the room. At the other end of the room put lots of balloon (one for each child). One member from each team runs to the other end, grabs a balloon and bursts it any way they can. Once their balloon has burst, they run back to their team, when the next person goes. The winner is the team who bursts all their balloons first. Make sure no child is scared of bursting balloons before you start, and collect up all the balloon remains as they can be a choking hazard.  Egg and Spoon Race  Children race each other whist balancing an egg, a small potato or a ping pong ball on a spoon. If the egg is dropped it must be retrieved and put back on the spoon. The winner is the child who crosses the finish line with their egg on their spoon first.
