Sporting songs make this summer special
This summer’s sporting spectacular is almost over, and there is only 2 days left to download our free sports songs. They have been an incredible success and not just with the children and parents in our music and movement classes!
The franchisees who run our classes fell in love with them too. Karen Morgan, who runs MAD Academy Epsom, recalls how they made her time at the Olympic park even more memorable. “Just how special our MAD Sports resources were, didn’t hit me until we were fortunate enough to go to the Olympics. As I left Stratford Station to join the crowds I found myself singing the lyrics to our MAD Sport Anthem ‘Let’s come together, all the nations of the world united.’ The hairs on my arms stood up on end!”
“When not all of the athlete’s performances ended in the dreams they hoped for, I was reminded of ‘Meena the Tri-athlete,’ from our song. Much to the amusement and occasional embarrassment of my family, MAD Sport songs rolled off my tongue all day – there was always something to sing about and appropriate lyrics to fit!”
But our songs proved popular well beyond our classes. It seems many of them have also been used in schools and nurseries over the past few months in singing assemblies and concerts. Amy McLaughlin, a primary school teacher from Devon, enjoyed the songs so much that she taught them to her class. “The children (Year 3 and 4) really enjoyed singing Let’s Come Together. In fact I think it was their favourite of all the songs we learnt.” As well as learning the songs the children went on to perform them in public. “They performed it in front of other local school children as part of the Junior Music Festival in North Devon.”
Another music teacher, Michael Barber, also enjoyed the songs, performing them with his pupils. Leaving a message on our facebook page, he wrote, “Meena The Triathlete won gold, silver and bronze!! The lyrics were perfect and we put together the music. Great work MAD Academy. Well done!!!”
Helen Harrington, founder of MAD Academy, is extremely proud of the positive response the songs received. “I wanted to bring the fun and excitement of this summer’s sporting events to the toddlers and children in our classes, and I know they had a fantastic time learning about all the different sports and races. However, I am really thrilled the songs have been enjoyed more widely by schools, nurseries and preschools as well.”
